Deck Officer & Marine Engineer CoC programmes are taught in English. Students need to have the appropriate level of English to be able to complete the programme or pass their written and oral examinations. If the students does not have the appropriate level of English to pass their written and oral examinations the student will not be entitled to a refund.
A candidate must satisfy the examiner that she or he is able to converse, read, and write in the English language sufficiently well to perform the duties required of a holder of the certificate of competency for which the candidate is to be examined. When onboard it is recommended that seafarers converse in English at all times. This practice is essential for self development and preparation towards orals at New Zealand.
